SWEET

Flour, yeast, salt, egg or two and sugar
Brings meaning to the baker's labor
Add milk or cream and knead it all vigorously.

Could add some chocolate, butterscotch, but no vinegar,
For it is to delight the palette with flavor.
That's what the baker gets with the right amount of sugar.

Tis sweet, all the variations, from cookies to party favors
That the baker strives for is just for pleasure
As he applies his trade with passion vigorously.

He turns to breads that he might find to be purer
But let the partaker be the juror
For sweetness eludes when he uses no sugar.

The pans are ready waiting for the baker's scraper,
The vat is ready, the oil is hot ready for batter drops
As the Baker hums to the sizzle vigorously.

The bell rings over the cooker
The baker removes the concoction to savor
As the test of tongue detects the right degree of sugar
Thus springing into a dance of satisfaction with vigor.

  1. Hi,

I couldn't find a "Contact" option on your blog. I operate a very small publishing company, Anderson Publishing, and I saw your book Runaway on Twitter.

I read the description on Amazon, and I think it could use a little cowbell! Amazon allows some HTML coding in the book descriptions. Most big publishers use this to put bold script, and larger script, etc...into their book descriptions. I've taken your description and added a little bold script and some paragraph breaks. This will help capture potential readers' attention as they're scrolling through long lists of books. Every little bit helps.

If you'd like to give it a try, copy and paste the following version of your book description into your KDP files. It will make the first paragraph bold, and then it will break up your description into a few short paragraphs. Best wishes to you.

In 1936 Oakland, California fifteen-year-old Ernest Ballard is part of the burgeoning middle-class families in the United States and has a firm black and white grasp of what he thinks is right.

When Ernest’s mother, Millie, is mugged on the way home from work, he blames his Father, Thomas, for not providing for the family and seeks him out and attacks him.

When the dust clears, a witness to the fight puts Ernest on an outbound freight to escape murder charges. What else can he do but runaway?

During his travels Ernest encounters a mentor, revivalists, thieves, and communists. Runaway is a coming of age story of lies, tragedy, murder, redemption and hope.

    1. Dang...Blogger took my HTML code and applied it to my comment. Anyway, that's what it will look like once you apply the simple code.

Please contact me at jbluehat@gmail.com or contactandersonpublishing@gmail.com, and I will send you your book description with the code. I'm sorry I couldn't properly give you the code on blogger.
